Yep, i’m ya typical Virgo, I love to collect and organise stuff (hence creating our monthly Pin Subscription – The Pinscription). From being a kid organising my pebbles from each beach I visited, I knew I had a long life of collecting ahead of me. Even some of the creepier items (cough, pot dolls, cough) still did it for me and so to still be collecting random bits in my mid 20’s is no surprise. I won’t lie, I didn’t even wear pins until I made the first ML pin back in August 2016, but once i’m fixated, I just can’t stop – and now i’m out of space. Time to make a bigger pin board I reckon!
Firstly, the pin display!
The coffin shaped pin board of my dreams. I’d seen a few online for £100+ and thought hey, I could make that. It might be a little rough around the edges but it’s mine and i’m a DIY queen. Here’s how I did it:
-Cut 6 pieces of wood, I had no idea of angles so just shaved more off as I went along
– Glued them together and sprayed them black
– Laid the coffin(ish) shaped wood onto a foamex board and drew round it
– Cut the foamex board and covered with black velvet
– Stuck the wood onto the velvet and voila, a semi functioning pin board!
Here’s my pin collection in my home. It looks great amongst my other collected items (I went through a taxidermy stage too, shock horror). I stayed with a black framed theme to make everything sit well together on the wall even though they’re completely different frames and shapes. My pins have been picked up over the past 3 years, from different countries and there’s loooooads of old ML pieces that we no longer sell (I’m sorry). I’ve tried my absolute best to include as many links as I can, but sometimes my brain just said nope.
