I have no problem in admitting that sometimes in life you just gotta wing it. And with most shoots you see on our Instagram, we do just that. But not this time, while I was off in sunny LA, Hannah was tasked with creating a mood board for this cupid jewellery shoot. Then on our return, Shutter Go Click (AKA my amazingly talented fella Ryan) made it come to life. Never did I think I would be fiercely ordering heart shaped balloons and confetti while on my jollies, but that’s just part of life as a sole trader.
Being organised is key to any small business, but for the last couple of years we’ve missed the mark on timed releases. We wanted to bring a complete collection for Valentine’s but due to hurdles with Coronavirus we were unable to release our Pink Crypt Coffin Ring in time. Believe me – we were just as sad as you guys. The collection needed to have a more feminine edge and Cupid Jewellery is always an idea that we’ve toyed with. And so the Stupid Cupid Collection was born. Matching Stainless Steel Cupid Hoops and Necklace. With a St Valentine Necklace on a longer chain so that they can be perfectly layered together. The Crypt Coffin Ring has always been a best seller for us and the demand for new colours is REAL. So pink was the obvious choice this time around.
Hannah was in charge of the hair, make up and overall styling for this shoot. “For this shoot I really liked the idea of clashing, contrast colours such as pink and red. Two colours often associated with romance but not too often found together. I knew we were going to be using a flower wall as a backdrop and the light pinks and reds made me think of roses so I knew I wanted to reflect this in the eye-makeup. I felt that the glossiness added a softness to the look as a whole, which I think worked really well with the red and pink colour pallet.”
So with Hannah on with hair and make-up, and Ryan being his usual badass creative self. I was left with blowing up balloons and guiding Lauren! For most shoots, we scout out a location, but for this one, we knew our office was perfect for the occasion. A Pink neon, a flower wall, a few props and we were away. Plus we could make a brew whenever we fancied – BONUS.
If you don’t know who Ryan is, well he’s only the best Sheffield Wedding Photographer around! We’ve worked on a few projects with Ryan including the Death Stalker Photoshoot where he made Rotherham look like god damn Vegas. A huge thank you needs to go to our model @laurajade_g too, the pink haired babe! Last but not least, a special mention to our talented gal Samantha Gill, thank you for always helping with our creative ideas (and for doing badass nails, always).
