Behind the scenes, we’re always busy sketching, carving and working on new designs, and the Cobweb Ring is our absolute favourite so far! The girl boss lifestyle isn’t always as exciting as people make out on Instagram, but this is one of my favourite stages – seeing our designs coming to life! We want to take time where possible to show you the various stages that go into our gothic jewellery. This was probably the longest design phase because we were being so picky but a girl knows what she wants!

1. THE BEGINNING – ROUGH CONCEPT DESIGN

1. THE BEGINNING – ROUGH CONCEPT DESIGN

From this initial design, to the finished piece took almost 12 months. This is the longest a design has taken us, but we really wanted this piece to be perfect!

2. THE FIRST SAMPLE – LASER

2. THE FIRST SAMPLE – LASER

Our first sample wasn’t quite how we’d envisioned it. We were still undecided on whether laser engraving or casting was the way to go on this ring. The shape of the ring wasn’t feeling right either, so back to the drawing board!

3. THE SECOND SAMPLE – LASER

3. THE SECOND SAMPLE – LASER

YES! The actual shape of the ring is there but the laser engraving still wasn’t sitting right against the shape. Maybe one more go with laser?

4. THE THIRD SAMPLE – LASER

4. THE THIRD SAMPLE – LASER

This is where we kind of settled. Left it a few weeks and came to the conclusion that laser wasn’t the way to go.

5. THE FOURTH SAMPLE – ENGRAVED

5. THE FOURTH SAMPLE – ENGRAVED

Our first casting came back and we were definitely onto a winner… But the shape was all wrong again.

6. THE FINISHED PIECE – ENGRAVED

6. THE FINISHED PIECE – ENGRAVED

Hoorah! The final piece in all it’s glory. We had to play about with size as the first sample of this was only 15-20mm wide and we wanted it to be 30-35mm.
